Wellspring Certificate of Bacteriological Removal EfficiencyThe bacteriological filtering capacity of the Clean & Clear Ceramic Wellspring® Ultra water filter element was independently tested in two ways by Analytical Food Laboratories of Grand Prairie, Texas on June 21, 2006:
Generic Bacteria Filtration CertificationCeramic Filter Certificate of EfficiencyThis is to certify the Clean & Clear Ceramic Wellspring® water filter element was tested for bacteriological removal capacity and provided 100% blockage of the bacteria in this trial. MethodThe filter was tested using 5 Liters of inoculated distilled water. The water was inoculated with a live culture of E. coli (generic) of a known concentration. The water was then filtered through the provided apparatus and samples were taken at the beginning, middle and end. Typical growth was not recovered in the filtered water indicating that the filter was able to block passage of the specific bacteria during this trial. Data & Results

E.coli O157:H7 Filtration Certification |
Initial Concentration of Inoculum: 1.26 x 108
Inoculum was diluted to 25,000 cfu/mL and placed in the apparatus.
From the apparatus aseptic samples were pulled at the beginning of filtering, middle of filtering and end of filtering.
The samples were then tested using methods from BAM Ch 4.
Recovery of the bacteria at levels of 50 cfu/ml indicates that the filter provided 99.8% blockage of the bacteria. This bacteria was used although it is not normally associated with contaminated water supplies, however it is pathogenic to humans. |
